Drishyam 2 Movie Review: Ajay Devgn starrer film keeps it tied with its tremendous thrill and mystery

Director- Abhishek Pathak

Cast- Ajay Devgan, Tabu, Akshaye Khanna, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Mrinal Jadhav

"The question is not what's in front of your eyes... This dialogue by fourth fail Vijay Salgaonkar is once again a reminder of the courage, wisdom, deceit and dilemma of a common man. A common man, who can go to any extent to save his family. The story of Drishyam 2 begins right where the first one ended. But there is a gap of 7 years here.

The film mainly revolves around the stubbornness and belief of two characters. One is IG Meera Deshmukh (Tabu), who wants to see those who killed her son behind bars under any circumstances. And the second is Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay Devgan), who does not want to let his family suffer under any circumstances.

In the first film, Vijay Salgaonkar surprised the audience with his intelligence. But now that we know him, here you will be waiting for every next step of Victory. The script of the film, its twists and turns are extremely effective.

Story

IG Meera Deshmukh's son is accidentally murdered at the hands of Vijay Salgaonkar's daughter. Vijay burys the boy's corpse to save his family from the police. The police make every effort, but they do not find the corpse. And that's where 'Drishyam' ended. Now the story has gone on for 7 years. Vijay Salgaonkar's family is trying to forget everything and live. He now also owns a movie theater and wants to make a film on a story written by him. He has also written the script, but is not happy with the climax. This film is just Vijay's passion or he has some other intention behind it... Its revelation brings a tremendous twist in a story.

However, he is working on a film with a writer Murad Ali (Saurabh Shukla) when the police reopen the seven-year-old case.

Once again Vijay Salgaonkar, along with his wife Nandini (Shriya Saran) and daughters Anju (Ishita Dutta) and Anu (Mrinal), are caught at the police station. This time the police also have witnesses and evidence and the responsibility of the case has been taken over by the new IG Tarun Ahlawat (Akshaye Khanna). He along with Meera (Tabu) wants to see Vijay behind bars along with the entire family. But will they succeed in their purpose? Or will Vijay, with his wisdom, once again save his family from the clutches of the law?

Acting

Ajay Devgan's re-creation in the role of Vijay Salgaonkar is commendable. The story has progressed seven years, so there has been a change in the actor's look. But the things Ajay Devgan says with his eyes and his style, it is very interesting to see on the big screen. His encounter with Akshaye Khanna has been in very few scenes, but as much as it has been, it has been quite exciting. Akshaye Khanna has impressed with his effortless acting in the role of IG Tarun Ahlawat. This time the entire investigation is their responsibility, so Tabu's screen time in this film is very low, which is a bit disturbing. At the same time, Rajat Kapoor, Shreya Saran, Ishita Dutta and Mrinal Jadhav have done justice to their characters.

Direction

Drishyam was directed by Nishikant Kamat. Who died in the year 2020. Now Abhishek Pathak has brought the sequel to the big screen. The thrill and hype that the first film created among the audience, the director has tried his best to keep it intact in the sequel. And they succeed in that too. Especially in the second half, the film moves very fast and keeps you thrilled scene by scene. Despite having many sub-plots in the film, the director has kept the story tied to one end.

The technical side

Drishyam 2 is the Hindi remake of the Malayalam film of the same name. Therefore, Jeethu Joseph, who has written the original story, should be praised for the screenplay of the film. While it has been Hindi by Amil Keyan Khan. The dialogues of the film are quite excellent. On the technical side, Sandeep Francis' editing is tight and Devi Sri Prasad's background score matches with the pace of the film.

What is good or bad

The positive things of the film, its screenplay. Especially the twists and turns in the second half are tremendous and keep you constantly hooked to the story. While the first half of the film is slow. By the interval, the film engages in establishing new characters and storylines. And its impact is also seen in the acting of the actors. As the story progresses, the strength in the acting of the actors also increases. It is interesting to see Ajay Devgan and Akshaye Khanna face to face.

Rating

'Drishyam' was finished by the makers at a juncture where the audience felt that Vijay Salgaonkar had won. But the story of Drishyam 2 starts back from that turn. To make a sequel, it is very important to have a strong screenplay. And here the makers have not disappointed. There are some drawbacks in the film, but there is no doubt that it has been quite interesting to be involved once again in Vijay Salgaonkar's life. 'Drishyam 2' gets 3.0 stars from coolbytesguru.
